Well, I went to public schools where they didn't dare discipline with beatings. It was when you got home that you had your *** handed to you via a leather belt.

actually, yes I have.... I have had more than my share of beatings,been kicked, punched in the stomach, beat with a belt, a lamp cord,
guns pointed at my head, been thrown out of the house in a nothing but a towel at age 12, ......abusive alcoholic fathers/stepfathers are not that uncommon.......

I would never make my kid so scared of me that if i rasied my hand for the check he'd think i was gonna hit him. this is crazy, and i got it bad too, theres talk about belts and paddles, my pops beat on me with his hands and i hate him more everyday for it. I've worked with lots of kids before, from 7 to 15 and i never had to instill fear in them to maintain control or administer discipline.

If your not smart enough to figure out another way( other than sock torture) ask around, take classes at the local college, just do something different. i know about a guy who stabbed his father because he would beat him, u've heard that one b4 right??

People wonder why their kids don't listen, if I got in trouble at school they would bust your a$$ and then when you got home my dad did it again. I bust my sons butt if its deserved. Our society doesn't disipline our kids so they have none. They say put them in time out or talk to them sometimes alittle more than talk is needed. imo.

 

That school is a joke! I'd be pissed if my kids were being put in it plus the fact that the teacher proved to be lying about why they use it. It's therapeutic.....blah[:'(]! Bring back the "Board of Education"!

Yes there is a difference between beating and spanking. It sounds like it was more than just the beating but how they acted as a parent as a hole. People who don't do enough (My wife) and people who beat children don't understand the psychology of children. A spanking is a consequence of bad behavior but it's not to be given the first time. But if children are acting up and keep acting up you swat them on the behind and they then get it. You don't do it in anger or multiple times. If you look at the culture, 9 out of ten kids that weren’t spanked are usually brats when they are adults and usually have no cooping skills or compromising skills when it come to failure and adversity in there life. They are usually the winners in life that you hate.
