So "the big change" has come early for you, eh Spirit?? Hot flashes and Harleys? ![Big Grin](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Hell, there's nothing wrong with liking different styles of bikes.
Of the HD's, I really like the looks of the XR1200 and the VRod most. The VRod has some *****, too.
Some of the fatboys aren't bad, either, but the prices suck for what you get and they're too bloated and slow.
I've always liked the Honda Magna (VF750C), though, which is why I have one. The liquid cooled VFR motor is a winner, the price is less than half as much as the same year 1200 sportster, and it's faster (about a second faster in the 1/4). Why don't you look at one of these?

It looks a lot sleeker with the bags, sissy bar, shield, and rack off.
This next one's not mine, but nearly identical:

All I am trying to say is I have been guilty of bike prejudice in the past and could never see any further than my own sportbikes, everything else being ugly or of no interest to me ... but you do change and I believe motorcycling is not all about flat out acceleration and supernatural handling, as wonderful as all that is. Sometimes you just want to experience the road and the breeze without going for it all the time and yes, I know you can go slow on a sportbike but they do have a tendency to make you want to wind it up all the time, as well as feet pinned back and the lean on the wrists stance that I find hard in slow traffic ... of course I am not advocating everyone should love Harleys here, far from it
... I am just pointing out there is biking beyond sport bikes and for me it would probably actually be something like a Kawasaki Versys when I am ready, that bike will give me the all day comfort and more upright laid back position and a more leisurely engine ... a bike I can admire the views on ... not instead of my sport bike but "as well as" ... why limit myself to just one segment of motorcycling?
I think as motorcyclists we should be happy there is so much choice out there, bikes for all sizes, tastes, and temperaments ... all I was doing was expressing that a bike I once would never have considered, looked very sweet sitting outside my house and my friend looked so cool on it, this bike made him smile and he said he really enjoyed riding it and found the whole experience enjoyable ... remember his other bike is a ZX10R so it's not like he knows no different.
He enjoys both, each bike speaks to different parts of him and as I got older I see it too now, some days you will want all out speed and handling, others you will just fancy a pootle around the countryside and whether that be on a hog or one of the Versys style adventure bikes it's all good in my book
We're all bikers at the end of the day and what we ride or the style of the ride should not make any difference.

You sound like my wife, she couldn't like anyother bike if it wasn't a sportbike. I guess its the rush and control of power, now I have her liking other bikes like the HD night rod and ducati monster. I guess its just change and different times in our lives, we have to try other things and just enjoy. Johnnyh

There's nothing wrong in liking all kinds of bikes.
The only Harley I ever liked was the 1200 Nightster, it was all black including the engine and wheel rims, looked nice and upright riding position, not like a typical hand-upwards-feet-forward Harley.
Maybe my bike when I am 70 and my back gives up on me and its too hard to ride a sportbike anymore

I suppose with me I tend to appreciate any bike from the smallest and slowest to the largest and fastest
... I do just love bikes in general now and understand each to their own,
I have always loved sportbikes and always will but eventually I do want something more upright and easy, some all day comfort, but only to own in addition to my CBR6 ... my friend was showing me some Triumph Street Triples the other day with a 675cc engine, I had a sit on one and it felt really good and comfortable, quite light too![Smile](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I really liked the look of those too with their naked street look ... nice in the green or the black....![Smile](https://cbrforum.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Every test and review I ever read on the Street triple or 675 Sport are saying how good they are and are more than a match now for the Japs. The 675cc Street Triple is supposed to have some real fun torque lower down and a nice comfy riding position.

Triumph has a Street Triple "R" race bike for $9500. I am getting one of them in Graphite. But keep my CBR as a daily.
Triumph has come a long way and makes better than quality bikes now. Cheaper than Harleys and more unique. Sorry but I work with a BUNCH of Harleys and they ride to be seen. Triumph riders never need to advertise!
