CBRForum FANTASY BASEBALL THREAD!!! get it while it's hot!
Alright....since fantasy football was such a blast this past season...the people involved thought it would be fun to do a fantasy baseball league as well. Seeing as I have done this a few times before...I decided to do the legwork.
I have been anxiously awaiting Feb for when leagues open and guess what...they're OPEN!! So I have set up the CBRForum fantasy baseball league.
It's currently open for 20 total teams of which I am one so there are 19 open slots. The league is head-to-head because it's just too lame to do a points only league. Anyone is free to request an invite. Here are the some stipulations for the league...
1) Those who participated in fantasy football will have first dibs on a slot, meaning until I receive a no-go from them, I will hold a slot for them in the league. Practically speaking, that means as of right now, there are ten slots for new members. I will post in the thread here if another slot opens up.
2) The rules are currently set although I do believe I can change the settings for awhile so once the teams have been set, I will enertain adjusting the league settings to make everyone happy. I had to have a setup initially so please don't complain right now, we can always adjust things.
3) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, don't ask for an invite if you won't stay with it. I understand things come up and there might be one or two or three weeks where you can't be involved. I just don't want someone signing up then disappearing for four months and pretty much waste a team slot. Like I said, this league is for fun and is not crazy, but in the same respect, we still want to be competitive and having 6 guys just disappear doesn't help that.
4) As of RIGHT now, the league is on an auto-pick draft. Baseball drafts are LONG...so the way this works is you pre-rank all your players and on a set day, it auto drafts according to your rankings. We can then trade and do whatever thereafter. No need to schedule a live draft!
I can't think of anything else at this point, but please feel free to ask. We have a little while before things kick up so let me know if you want your invite. If you do, post in this thread AND AND AND send me a PM with your email addy so I can forward you the invite.
Also, just so you know, this is through Yahoo! sports. I picked this just because I have used it before and is a pretty good system. Here is the link to the league...

RE: CBRForum FANTASY BASEBALL THREAD!!! get it while it's hot!
alright Ka619rtKid - you're in...send me a PM with your email addy and i'll get you the invite...
@kewl...
essentially...it's just like football...except no live draft...would take way too long....but essentially you will go head to head with another person for a week....at the end of the week the game with that player ends....
points are calculated by certain categories....e.g., total hits, total runs, etc.. whoever wins the most categories that week, essentially wins the matchup....throughout the year....the rankings are determined by not necessarily how many people you beat but your stats....for example again...
say you played me....
KB won 4 categories
FF won 5 categories
your record would be 4-5-0
mine would be 5-4-0
then the next weeks would add on and so forth...
you honestly wouldn't have to do anything with your lineup unless your pitcher or a position player goes down or your guy is on a really bad streak and you want to off-load him....
it's not hard to play really, pretty basic....
i mean when i played last year, i checked it everyday because every game changed the matchup score, but i didn't make that many strategic moves unless i just needed a new player...trust me...it's fun...and it's long...and it's exciting..!!!
