There's an American version with a GM ecotec 4 cyl supercharged to and upgraded to 300 hp. A buddy of mine has one. It's awesome but expensive.

Ya they were not going to do an american version cause they couldnt get the honda engine in the US or something so Jay leno convinced them to put the eco engine in it.

I wonder what would have happened if they put it up agains a 1000cc bike.

You should check out the Radical SR3
It's the same basic idea (super light weight, no roof, no doors) and they have used the 1300CC hayabusa engine in quite a few cars...

If you click cars for sale you can see a lot of the different engines (1000cc, 1200cc, 1300cc, V8, Turbo v8 etc. etc.)

There's one with 363 HP!!!!

Just watched a youtube vid of these two. The radical won by .2 seconds

You can also get the atom fitted with a supercharged K20A. A guy from around here brought it to the local auto-cross one day but wasn't even pushing it.
