Can someone please stop this moron!
I'm getting these almost daily. I've changed my pw so you'll never guess it. Please whoever is doing this stop wasting your time. It's very annoying. Can't we stop this by blocking them or something?
Dear Jenna,
Someone has tried to log into your account on CBR Forum - Enthusiast forums for Honda CBR Owners with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.
The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 207.71.18.48
All the best,

that IS someone stopping the morons. it's when you don't get the message and your password changes that you need to worry. because people can proxy IP addresses at will, there's no real other defense against someone trying to log into an account.
just take it as a reminder to keep that password complex.
i'd also recommend PM'ing Sprock with the IP addresses you get.

I don't bother changing my password. Simple fact: it'd take far too long to brute force my password, especially being limited to 5 tries per IP per 15 minute period. According to a password calculator, the worst case scenario under those restrictions would take 5,781,860 years to brute force. It'd be far quicker to exploit the forum software. Or pay me a visit and put a gun to my head
My password is enterprise strength, case changing using the ASCII set (letters, numbers and symbols).

It's just spammers. That's all. It's been happening to all of us. I had one at 1044am today, one on the 6th, 2nd, 1st, Oct 31st, 28, 26, etc.
I don't even notice because I have my notifications for everything routed into my CBRF folder in my email.
Your best bet is to ignore it. If your password is good, they won't get in.
It's a pretty tall task to stop all the spammers in the universe, stop proxies, etc. These are just random attempted logins, likely spambots, using dictionary type password hack attempts.
To stop them all would be like stopping all those old women in line at the gas station who insist on paying with exact change like they're gonna win some exact change award.
It's a minor inconvenience.
Make a special folder in your email that filters them all into it like I do and you won't feel a thing.
