Default Buying a "leftover" bike.

Not sure where to put this.

My F2 has been pissing me off, and I don't have time to work on it, nor do I want to spend money to have someone work on it. I started looking at upgrading, looking at F4is and RRs.

The other day I went to the local Honda dealer to pick up a part. On my way out I saw one of these:

It looked brand new. They never have used bikes on the show room floor, they're parked out front. So unless Honda re-released this color scheme, it is a brand new 2007 600rr.

Assuming the price was right $5000-$6000, would this be a good buy? Anything to watch out for? Problems for an older but new bike that has been sitting?

An easy way to tell if it's new or used is to see how many miles are on the ODO.

As far as problems with an older but new bike, the tire rubber has probably turned to hockey pucks after sitting for 5 years. If it's the original battery and they haven't kept it on a trickle charger it will need to be replaced.

What does Kelly Blue Book have to say about the price?

5500 for excellent condition.

This bike replaced an '08 orange and black. This is a small shop that is more dirt focused, so they seem to get lot's of leftovers, they also have a '09 1000rr.

Dealerships are usually pretty good about running bikes occasionally to keep them lubed up and such, at least from the ones I know. +1 on the tires, I would ask them to replace them with something new if they're OEM still. If the bike is, in fact, new, that is.

If it is new it should come with a warrantee as well. I would pull the trigger on this if you are serious. Nice chance to have a new bike at used bike prices! The dealer should go through it and set it up for you as well. I would ask them to change all the fluids. Brake fluid is hydroscopic and should be flushed at least every two years.

So I had time to go look at it and ask some questions. It is used.

It is in immaculate condition though. But the miles are high, 20k and they want way too much for it.

Guess I'll keep looking.
