Broken bones
I didn't want to jack Xx NewGuys xX thread, and hope you have a speedy recovery, but you guys were talking about braking a collar bone and how bad it hurts. I would have to say my broken ribs were horrible. i couldn't breathe, cough, laugh, walk without being in pain. I too had a brace the doctor gave me and thought I didn't need it, WRONG. I broke them on the first of May, and still have a wierd tingle in my rib cage. They bother me when I sleep sometimes still.
Anyone ever break a rib or two? Is it supposed to linger this long? I wish I had the X-Ray, but it showed the tips of two of the ribs kind of hanging off. The doctor said they probably wouldn't heal normal. Anyone experience the same thing? My girlfriend keeps telling me to have it checked out, but I hate going to the doctor. It took me a week and a half of horrible pain before I went to the doctor to even find out what was wrong.

D i broke 3 ribs in highschool. Took about 8 weeks to heal, and almost a year before they felt somewhat normal. Mine didnt heal fully to normal either, as weird as this may sound you may never be 100% again. I was waiting and waiting to feel back to 100% how i felt before. The doctors told me that what used to be about 80-90% before is going to be my new 100%. It took a while to get that thru my head, but once i did i finally moved on. I still get aches sleeping though from time to time. I know all that may not make a lot of sense, but if you have an odd breakage, you could be in a similar situation to mine.
It makes complete sense, my new 100% is my old 80-90%. Also the reason why I dont think I need to go back to the doctor. I just haven't got used to the wierd feelings yet.
Please dont get me wrong though, im not in any way saying you should not visit the doc again. Maybe get a quick xray to make sure they are healing ok, but thats your call. I can tell you though, if something isnt right and you find out 2-3 weeks from now, it could be worse. Let me give you one other train of thought, and you can trust me 1000% on this one. If you think breaking your ribs hurt, if they have to re-break them casue they arent healing right, you are in for a whole nother world of pain you havent felt yet.
I just broke my collar bone last weekend, again. i broke it in march this year, jumping my dirtbike. i came down on the front tire, went over the bars, got knocked out and broke my collar bone. then last weekend up in the mountains, i was booking along pretty fast on a trail. there was a 6 inch log across the trail as erosion control. i figured i'd just wheelie over it. well when the back tire hit, it bucked me up. my stomach was over the handle bars, and the bars were tank slapping back and forth. i almost rode it out but i ended up hitting on the right side, breaking my right collar bone again, then coming to a stop on my left side. both times nothing really happened to my bike. this time it sucked because i had to ride 30 miles through the woods back to my truck.
breaking a collar bone does hurt initialy, but i dont think its too bad overall. it does take along time to heal because they usualy dont put it in a cast or anything. i cant lift anything heavy, but atleast i still have use of my right arm. i still ride my cbr, its easier than trying to drive my car with no power steering and manual trans.
