Blue exhaust
So ive seen this on more than one bike and want to know what causes this. The headers will start to turn to a deep blue after being on the bike for a while right next to the block. What does this mean when that happens?
I think its called bluing.. maybe some other terms to describe it. It is normal. from the heat of the exhaust gasses. You can put products on your pipes to lessen it. You can also get them ceramic coated and then you will never get burned on your headers...
nice and simple
Correct me if I'm remembering wrong, but it happens when metal gets too hot. (I've had a little experience with this using a grinder on metal
) If I remember correctly, it results in a weaker (more brittle) metal. So its very bad on something suck as a brake rotor or bike's frame, not such a big deal on a header/exhaust pipe.
