Default Back Tire Question

Question: Have about 6K on the back tire and its already showing thread? Is this milege about normal for a Brigdestone, stock tire, on a 07 600RR? If so, what do you recomend for a good longer wear tire but not something I'll skating on?

Stock tires usually suck ***, so that's probably about right. There's lots of good tires our there, though I've stuck with Metzelers and Michelins myself and always had good luck. I've got Pilot Powers on now front and rear with great results.... almost 8k miles on the set, and while the rear is getting a decent flat spot in the middle (damn commuting miles!), there's still plenty of deep tread there. Front is still perfect. I used the Pilot Roads for awile and usually got about 10k out of a rear. I got 26k out of a Mezeler M1 front tire once (the stock Dunflop that came on the bike was cupped to hell at 14k)

I know there's others... .but that's been my experiences

6K, that's great...I'm on my 5th rear so far this riding season. I have the Qualifier's and although they have excellent warm up, are track ready, stick like super glue; I only get MAYBE 3K (that's pushing it) a rear.

Are you running super softs or just running the heck out of them? That is crazy low mileage.

Tell me about it, lol. I ride the **** outa them. They can handle the beating but just don't last long, from my own personal experience. "The Don" Collins had some Q's on his bike too and said that they didn't last too long either.

I usually get about 2500 to 3k out of a set also, go thru 5-6 sets a year. Just the price you gotta pay to have fun. Dont scrimp and buy cheap tires tho, just fork out your $250 a pair and keep on riding.

Yep. 6,000 miles is pretty good for a rear stock tire. I have about 4,000 miles on my aftermarket Qualifiers, and still have PLENTY of life left in them. I usually go through a set of tires every year. Maybe an extra rear thrown in depending on how many track visits I make.

I tend to eat tires on a regular basis and anything over 2K miles is consider bonus miles for me. I seem to get decent milage out of Pilot Powers, but I was killing the Qualifiers in no time flat. 7500 miles on the bike and I am on my 4th set of tires. This is a Qualifier at 950 miles. Note the chunking on the sides.....
