Default Atlanta in the Summer

For those of you thinking about taking a trip to Atlanta this weekend -- well, ya might wanna think about next weekend instead. 14th street is closed, Northside Drive is still messed up, it feels like 107F with the frikkin humidity and oh, did I mention it's 'Pride Week' ? There will be a parade with costumes and everything. If you're into that sort of thing more power to ya but if you ain't -- well remember ole Stretcher warned ya[8D]

A lot of people go up to Deals Gap and ride. Really you can't go wrong if you just take off and head towards Dahlonaga and Helen. I can't remember the route # but when you're leaving one of the mountain tourist traps if you head up to White County there are some awesome roads up there. Its a rare day when I can get up there to do those roads -- usually its just back and forth to work. But 2 beats 4 any day

What's up everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. My names Chris. I just bought an 05 f4I and looking for ANY honda riders in the North Ga (flowery branch/gainesville) area. I have been off the saddle for 6 years ever since my S/J f3 met the pavement in FL on 95 south[:@]. I'm still pretty new to the area, only in Ga for a little over 2years so whenever you guys are up for a ride let me know.
Cya,
-Chris

Oh dear, let me educate you fellas on the N. GA roads...

Here is a map that might come in handy:

http://home.earthlink.net/~allensatl.../Falco/nGA.jpg

A few of my favorites are:
From Dawsonville (53) take 136 west to I-575 (not really on the map)
From Dahlonega, take 19, 129, 60, 180, 75 to Blairsville, Blue Ridge, Helen, or Cleveland.
And 53 from Dawsonville to Jasper is a good ride
140 through north Cherokee County is fun, too
52 has a lot of fast sweepers and good sightlines.

The Cherohala Skyway (also known as 'cherryhole') is a great ride, sometimes above the clouds...
Deals Gap (129 on TN/NC border) is incredible, but well known, crowded at times, and heavily patrolled

Highway 136 is probably my favorite, followed closely by 129 from Turner's Corner Cafe (at 19) up to the Blood Mountain hiking store just before the intersection with 180. Two Wheels Only campground is near the intersection of 60 and 180, and you can always find some bikers to chat with up there. That crowd runs about 50/50 cruiser/sport crowd, but most are friendly to all.
