Apparently Neutral on my bike is between gears 3 and 4
So weird. I was downshifting to a traffic light on a 55MPH road. When I went from 4th to 3rd, I really didn't press down too hard on the shifter. When I let off the cluth, i was in neutral, however the gears were rattling and grinding: similar to when you slowly try to put your bike in 1st from N. I pulled the clutch back in, pressed down harder, and, what do you know, 3rd gear.
That ever happen to anyone?

Its happened to me like twice, once last summer, and once this spring, usually at high rpm's. Almost feels like i get locked out, very freaky feeling.
It happened to me once this weekend. Did not like the feeling when it happened. I think mine has to do with the fact that I adjusted my shift lever when I got my new boots. I was having a hard time getting my foot under the shifter when the boots were new, so I moved it up a bit. Now that the boots are broken in I feel like I am reaching to far to put it into another gear. Both downshifting and uptshifting has become combersome.
That reminds me, I need to go and re-adjust that. Later!

I think this happened to me once last year. I was "racing" a friend in his toyota corola with 5 people jammed in it and I think I redlined it and was in 2nd or 3rd gear and then tried to drop it back down a gear as I slowed and all I heard was this sound like wheel of fortune only much more horriffic! It was like click click click click click click when I tried to push the shifter down and I freaked out thinking I broke my bike I let the clutch out and the bike was like it was in neutral. I made it to like 10mph and then I got it back into gear but it was scary. I've always had transmission problems with this thing though, when I stop very very quickly the bike downshifts for me. I hold in the clutch and it just goes clunk clunk clunk clunk from 6th to like 3rd or 2nd never all the way to first though.
Oh well
