anyone rode on a runway
my friend works at a small airport for like propeller planes and small jets and helicopters... im going to go visit her one day at work and make a run down the runway if she gets a coast is clear on the air traffic radio ha. i figure its the safest way to do a speed run just to see wha it will do(provided i have enough runway) and the cool part is, i may get it on video from her dads helicopter or someone elses ha .
i thought id share my opportunity for a cool video from a helicopter where it doesnt say FOX NEWS anywhere on the screen haha

sounds cool, just be careful and give yourself plenty of room to slow down, put a cone out and mark it somehow, where you need to back off and get the speed down to stop. There was an old runway out in some acreage off this old highway, runway was laid, but the developer lost interest or money, who knows. Anyway, HUGE runway, maybe 3-4miles long and who knows how wide. We would sneak out there to drag race every now and then. Now the cops use it for training.
holy crap that's awesome... my old boss had a twin engine and I was always trying to get him to help me out and get some runway time but apparently that's extremely illegal... make sure you get permission from theflight traffic operators as well
i rode a bit by the hangers, i have a friend who used to ride and is a pilot... getting on a runway is pretty much out of the question unless it's a airport out of no where and then the runway is not goin to be anything great because short little planes just fly out of there... but good luck,
ya id prob go talk to the top ppl there see what their views on it are, sign a waiver type thing saying that they arent liable. and that it would only be one run. since thats all i want to do even if i dont get to high speed i think a short video from the air would be sweet! especially if the chopper was following behind me a bout 15-20ft up so its like right next to me.
chances are i wont be allowed to,but it would still be fun none the less... or see how much her dad would want to fly it to a track one day and get some air footage of a track day... if the track officials would allow that too.. it could be good advertisement for them too.
