I personally go through SallieMae.... they seem to be really easy to work with. First bet is to go through your school and do your FAFSA (something about federal application for student aid). That basically declares your income and is required if you want a good rate (Sallie Mae is something like 5%?!?). Then after your school recieves that, you can apply online @ Sallie Mae and let them do their magic. I wouldnt personally go through and get a collegiate loan, the rates are about double (10%) but they are still deferred.

Yeah, I got my Fafsa but that paid for my tuition. I wanted to get something that would give me a little cushion, and pay off what I have now. Kind of like consolidate and still have some left over. I owe about $4k now, I just wanted to get not more than $10k and pay those off and then have some left over, but I dont see that happening any time soon./

i just got $2615 at 6.8% for FAFSA since im under 24 and dont qualify as an independent cause of this. so i needed to pay for $4K more and got it at 8.25% through citibank. 8.25% is prime, and 6.8% is the going rate for a stafford loan. i dont have to pay any of it until im done with school. sallie mae wanted 12.75% for the additional $4K.

Thanks man, I'll check out that site!!! I want to keep the % under 9% as long as it is deferred.

I have Sallie Mae. But then again my student total was only 6K. Sallie Mae is easy to work with as well.
