I now see that I was all wrong. Clearly what we really need around here is a big whomping round of face lifts and nose jobs!

Everybody of any age has denenerative back problems to one extent or another. Some is symptomatic, some isn't.

I don't want anyone to confused the 99.9% of us with that problem with a condition that bears a very high risk of near term and permanent paralysis of a limb. Only a real doctor knows the best/safest course of action.

Don't ask your brother in law how to invest your money either.

Absolutely, I think everyone should hack on their nose (preferably in their own garage) until it falls completely off so they can keep what's left in a dish by the bedside for use the next day.

Hey
sorry guys i havent responded for a while, had a busy weekend
thanks for all the advice, and please dont let my questions cause conflict, lol

this weekend was a basketball tournament i had signed up for before my leg pain had gotten worse. i planned on not playing, and was watchin my other buddies play our first game, but decided tog ive it a try for a few minutes.

i played for a minute, but played less than half effort, and i paid for it big time later
afterward we went to walmart, and got a few things, after walkin around walmart iw as standing in line, waitin for my fiance to pay and my leg began THROBBING worse than it ever had, i asked her for the keys and started to head outside and got to the front door and had to sit on the benches they have in the front
i began getting light headed, and couldnt hear very good out of my right ear and then began to sweat VERY heavily. my face went pale and my lips turned white.
i had my fiance go get the car and by time she got back 3 minutes later, i felt normal again. it was really scary
i have an appointment with the surgeon ive been referred to tomorrow morning, so we'll see what he says.

also, wednesday night it went numb
both doctors ive talked to have acted like if it goes numb its a pretty big deal, but i asked the nurse and she told me it would be fine to wait til my appointment monday, but that has made me pretty scared too. so now it feels really weird to walk, all the way down the outside of my leg, and the outside half of my foot is numb feeling.

Numbness is better than no feeling (because THAT is paralysis). But it means there is pressure on the nerve sufficient to alter it's function.

temporary nerve damage will vary widely. Sometimes it can take up to a year for full function and feeling to return.

However, if it doesn't return in a year, it's gone, and never coming back.

well surgery it is, unfortunately...
its kind of scary, ive never had surgery on anything
the closest to surgery ive had is stitchs in my finger when i was a little kid

The surgery is friday, and it will put me out of school for 2 weeks as well
which sux, this is my last semester so i didnt want to put school off and wait... but its gonna be hard to stay caught up in engineering classes when im not acutally there, especially 400 level engineering classes

i have two herniated discs, ones is bulging WAY out (the very bottom one, L5/S1 maybe) and then the one above it is herniated "regularly" i guess. Then the one above that doesnt have the little "divit" that goes in like the rest, its just flat, but the doc said it would be fine.

Now my thing is i want to find out the cause
I played football from age 10 to 18 and ive played baseball adn basketball my whole life, so its likely an injury from one of those, at least i hope.
Theres no history of it in my family at all, so im bankin on it being an injury, that will hopefully not happen again

and yea, the doctor said the numbness probably wont go away, but that it wont affect my ability to be able to play football/softball

Sorry to hear about it. Doctors tend to downplay the recuperative period, so take it easy. ("A little discomfort" usually means "OUCH!!!") but you will have good drugs at least.

Are you going to have to have a fusion with a bone plug and/or hardware? Or is he just removing the bad disk material?.

alright guys, back from the surgery.
wel ive been back, but obviously not beein doing much but laying down and taking vicidins, lol

the good thing is my leg felt awesome literally as soon as i woke up, but the pain is starting to show back up a little in my hip area, but ive did some research and they say this is normal. i guess due to using my leg again in a "normal" way (taking normal steps and being able to actually move)

and o yea house, i just had the excess disc materai removed, luckily no fusion or anything added. yea and im not sure about the being back in class in 2 weeks, im still aiming for it but im just now starting to walk okay, let alone park a mile away from class an walk it with a backpack on, sit through 2 or 3 hours of class, then walk back.

the first few days of recovery were horrible, the vicidin led to... well, without gettin too detailed, "nonregular" digestion... which led to feeling sick.. which led to puking everything up... which led to me deciding not to take any vicidin for a day to see if things cleared up, which lead to pretty big pain. the second day i had to wake up every 2 hours to go to the bathroom, which ended with a 10 min dry heaving session at like 5 in the morning... which feels really good on a freshly operated on back.

o well, maybe too much info.
good news is i feel pretty good now, still in pain obviously but i take a walk around the neighborhood everyday, and my doc said i should be aiming for a 1/2 mile walk per day to try to keep scar tissue from forming.

just figured id update you guys, thanks for the input and advice

I don’t even know where to go with this now. I have had herniated discs for a while until my ex-wife found someone that could help, long story. I wanted surgery so badly; I went to this guy that she had heard about looking for a referral for surgery and to my disliking he told me that he could help me. I did not have a ruptured disk it was herniated. I had very little feeling in my right leg with intense pain in my back and up into my arms and I would crawl on the floor when I got out of bed. It would take me 5-10 minutes to get upright. That was 12 years ago. I saw this guy twice a month for a year and now I am 100%.

I feel like I am talking about a witch doctor but it does work. I don’t care if it is all in the mind. It works. I have never felt better. I have been in many car, bike, ski crashes and other blows to the body. I use to hurt and now I don’t. I have not had to go back in 11 years now. The process involves light touching while you hold your breath. Crazy...yes...it works. I got messed up by a regular chiropractor about 32 years ago and never went back. This guy un-did that in the first visit (I was shocked).

BTW, I have not been to a doctor in 30 years now other than the back guy. I think that they are all quacks. I do believe in this technique however. I still ski race against 21 year olds and I am 54. I would not be able to get out of bed if not for this technique.

Yoga and this combined are the best for top health.
If you have hot tried yoga you should. It balances the body’s muscles and straightens the spine. Yoga is very hard work, start slow.

B.E.S.T.
