Anyone ever have a teacher who got off topic every class?

In middle school my US History teacher Mr. Swanson always got off topic. One minute he'd be lecturing about the Civil War, the next he'd be talking about embalming fluid and funerals. We always liked to get him off topic because he would ramble on until the end of class.

& I still got an A

i think it's supposed to be a sign of extreme intellect when someone has to entertain multiple lines of thought like that. if a basketball player dunked a ball after taking off from behind the three-point line, would he earn two points or three?

My physics professor a couple years ago would go off talking about the physics in cartoons and movies.

I had a college professor who would launch into a long calculus explanation of how a particular formula we were to use in solving some problems came about. The thing is we didn't NEED to know how the heck the formula was created. We just had to remember the formula and plug it into an equation to solve for the answer. Whenever we were introduced to a new formula he would launch into this long explanation on the board.

Anyway, the course he was supposed to be teaching us covered chapters 13-26 of a textbook. By the end of the semester he had made it halfway through chapter 14 because of all his distractions. I squeaked by with an A.

I had a physics teacher in high school who was a health nut. That's how I found out that Orange Juice is actually bad for you.

BTW, I'm a teacher that likes to go off topic, but since I'm an ESL teacher, it is actually helpful if it provokes any type of English response.

one of my english college professors related everything to weed... whether it was being able to write better high, or the meaning of an essay, etc, everything was related to pot in someway. it was pretty funny.

he'd also bet people cases of beer on things "i bet you a case of beer i could BS 7 pages in 5 min," things like that.

I've had one or two in college that tended to go off on tangents. I was always glad if it was in a class that allowed laptops. Teacher goes off subject, I go off forum browsing.

One more thing I don't miss from my college days!

It really depends on if I have time to bleed my brakes before pool league tonight. What makes pancakes flat?

In high school my global studies teacher Mr. Fig was super way far left liberal teaching at a very conservative farm town so the conversations involving bush or the iraq war or gun control would easily take up the entire class hour. So if we ever didn't want to do an assignment we would bring up something like tax cuts and ask what he thought about it then just sit back and wait for lunch lol
