Alright Techies
I'm looking at upgrading my phone. Something android powered on the alltel network. I've got it narrowed down to the HTC Desire or wildfire or the Motorola Milestone.
I need some advice and input from here. What are the pro's cons of each? I know that the desire has an accelerometer which is a pretty attractive feature to me but the desire and the milestone are going to cost me another hundred bones over the wildfire. How valuable/accurate are accelerometer apps anyway?
Thanks in advance for any input!

Desire has a 1 GHz processor vs 528 MHz on the Wildfire.
Desire will get Android updates faster than Wildfire.
Motorola tries to lock down their firmware, that makes it less user friendly.
Accelerometer is very accurate - I have used the Bubble Level app while putting up shelves at home to see if they are level.
Compass, some racing games, etc. use the accelerometer.

Alltel still exists? Weren't they bought out by Verizon? I know I made the switch in my area when Verizon bought them out.. err they "merged".. anyways, If it is Verizon phones I suggest the HTC Incredible or Droid X (large in size though), Or even the droid 2. I have the regular Motorola droid and have zero complaints.
Sorry, I am no help if you are strictly Alltel because I did not know they were around anymore

I have had both for work / personal at various times over the years. First hand experience using boht on a dialy basis Verizon blows them away hands down. It also consistently scores better in consumer reports.
Now maybe on the West Coast / texas area it might be closer, but it sure as hell isn't even a ballgame out this way.
