sounds like he's less worried about someone stealing it and more about idiots trying to make new myspace pics to show off "their" cool bike... or stupid tourists that think b/c it's parked next to the .25 horse ride in front of Walmart that it must be something they can sit on too....

your setup sounds perfect though... ahh, how I wish I had a webcam located in the VR4 when the idiot who tried to break in down in Champaign messed up my door-handle(and n-rigged the lock) and factory anti-theft system OR so I had proof as to which of my brother's idiot friends stole my headunit when the car was left outside while I was in Europe [:@]

yea i saw that thing on FutureWeapons... now if only they could just send a few thousand of those to Iraq and Afghanistan and get our troops out of there...

only problem is are those the origins of the REAL Skynet??? just another reason to amend that constitution... Presinator for '12!!!

sorry.. it's raining like crazy so no riding for me only geeking up the forums
SWORDS. No real skynet, because these are remote controls, they do not have algorithms to learn.

Alarms suck, just park it within vision of yourself, or in a garage or sth like that... I used alarms for quite a while on my bikes, always ended up with not being able to start the bike cuz the battery was dead

well i dont have to worry about that because im not going to arm the alarm while my bike is in my storage unit b/c its insured under thier lease and dont want my battery going dead... (my storage is 1/2 mile from my house with huge fence/gate with keycode.. )

like vr4 said.. i just want to keep idiots from taking pics on it and knocking it over or putting thier kids on it ect... so something with a proximity alarm will keep your average joe and his dumbass friends off my bike while im in the mall, or wal-mart.. ect..

.. anyone have an alarm? and what kind .. do you like it? let me know.. thanks d2d.. lemme think on that alarm.. pm me with details and install req. thanks..

man.. i came outside last year to see some middle eastern family taking family pictures on my bike.. and when i confronted them and asked them to get off of my bike (with helmet in hand about to leave) the guy says to me "hold on" if i wasnt 100% sure i would have been the target of the "oh he is racist and did it bc he was middle eastern" i would have slapped the **** out of that dude in front of his kids..

telling me to hold on so he can take pictures on my bike.. ****.. that was a test of my temper i never hope to repeat.
wow thats outragous man. I used to have such a temper in my younger days but years of smoking herb has mellowed me out permanently. I'm not the biggest guy either so I try to avoid fights if someone is well out of my weight class but I wonder what I would do in that situation. I don't think I wouldve hit the guy but I certainly wouldve went off verbally if he said "hold on" to me. Make sure he never does that **** again. People dont seem to realize bikes are expensive and they are hands off. Does anyone jump into the seats of convertibles when they wanna check em out? Its the same damn thing basically.

No, it is the same thing. I would be livid. I would let a kid get on it if I was there and they asked, but......grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

It was definately the years of herb, and that i was 100% sure if i did lose it i was going to be tagged as a racist. Just kept my cool, been in too many fights in my younger days.. Broken hands make it hard to ride..

And yes its the exact same thing as jumping in a convertible.. thats why i want an alarm.

i know d2d is real against the scorpio - I just bought one a few months ago and i love it - the proximity alarm works great for me, and it's a nice loud siren. I typically do not have the proximity alarm turned on and occasionally i put my key in the ignition while armed and man o man it scares me every time. They have also upgraded the keyfobs - it looks much sturdier than the ones in the past from pics i have seen. If you want vids there are plenty on youtube.

so far the only issue i have had was my own fault where i had the proximity alarm AND the bike cover on - it was a little windy and woke me (and probably some neighbors) up at 3:00a.m.

+1 for scorpio (i600 or i900 - not the i500)

d2d don't beat me up!!

looks like Scorpio is the only one on eBay anywhere from $260-310 for the i600 and there is one Lojack for $600 but it includes installation...

how hard are these to install?

where is a good place to buy from?

I'm really considering getting a "get the f*** away from my bike alarm", I understand that a professional thief is gonna get my bike if he wants it, but as long as I can keep punk kids away from it, i'll be happy

on second thought after searching and listening to D2D's words of wisdom, the Internatrix looks like the best route... especially since they're forum sponsors

on that note, D2D... PM sent regarding the one you have for sale, even though buying direct from them wouldn't be a big dent in the wallet...

cool - i just had to stick up a little bit for my scorpio, installation was a breeze (less than 10 minutes) and so far i have no complaints :-)

any alarm is better than no alarm in my head - but use your brain, that's the best weapon against theft...
