Accident questions...
All my buddies had a "drunken arguement" last night. And We still dont know the answer, maybe you guys know.
Say you laid your bike down, then reported it to insurance. Does that put points on your license? or raise you premium? Also does it raise the cost of your auto insurance?
We got a case of bud lightriding on this. I hope im right

depends on what you mean by "laid down"... if you were driving at any speed it would probably go down as crash and not only give you "points"(we don't have this IL), but will raise your premium...
if you just knocked it over in the garage or while not riding... it's usually best off NOT to make a claim and just find a good way to fix it via eBay or aftermarket shops that won't cost an arm and leg for plastics.... a claim of ANY kind... usually will up the premiums unless of course you weren't at fault, but "laying down" a bike usually falls under collision and thus bikers' fault....
as far as raising auto insurance rates, not sure, hopefully someone who's experienced will know, but I figure any accident on your record would affect your overall driving profile, otherwise you wouldn't need a separate liability insurance for your bike

Points are for the DMV if you get a ticket you get points... has nothing to do with insurance company
If they fix it (insurance) your rates will go up for sure.

Like RCR said, if you get a ticket you will receive points. If you do not receive a ticket you will not get points.
If you report anything to your insurance that they have to pay out for, you can almost be 90% assured your rates will go up.
I was able to get away from the scene of the accident before any police arrived. So I was able to skate away without a ticket. I am paying everything out of pocket for my bike repairs. So I do not have to worry about any of the othervariables

Like others said, no points on license, but insurance might go up. Although, I totalled my 03 RR in november, 2003, hitting another car. I was found at fault and issued a ticket. In 2005 I bought another brand new RR, used the same insurance, but my rates were actually lower. Maybe I got lucky...........
If someone else crashes into you, it pays out of their insurrance, and does not affect your premiums. (have several of those, ands your insurrance will try to raise your premiums anyways, they'll keep track of your accidents even if you're not at fault)
If you crash into smebody, or if you crash on your own, and your insurrance pays, Your rates will go up.
License points have nothing to do with the insurrance. If the police show up, and decide to write you a ticket as a result of the accident (reckless driving, excessive speed ... whatever. it is the ticket what will put points on your licence, not the accident per se. (just remember, most insurrance companies will require a police report to accept a claim.)
Oh, and points on your licence is yet anotherfactor the insurrance company will use to raise your premium
