About Navy Squids
Before everyone goes off and starts bagging on the new guy for having squid in his nic you should be aware that us Navy folks are/were called squids. It has NOTHING to do with squidly behavior on bikes.
That is all.
That is all.
Squids... seabees...doughboys...= Sailors (Except if you're a submariner... then you're a bubblehead)
Leathernecks... devil dogs... jarheads... = Marines
Flyboys...zoomies...= Airmen
Ground pounders...Grunts...= Soldiers
I'm thinking the Marines got the better end of the cool nickaname deal.
(But us flyboys got the golf courses and nice hotels on evry base... FTW!!!)
I do get what you're saying though...

I think it had to do with the story 20,000 leagues under the sea (and the giant squid in the story) but I am not sure... I'll have to research it and get back to you, but it predates my entering the service...
Funny, even though I was an airdale attached to squadrons that were deployed on ships we were still squids.
Thankfully when the carriers got home we left that same day to go back to our bases in the desert. People that talk **** about marines or sailors (or any service members) without having ever served are po0sies, plain and simple. And yes, I'd say that to anyone's face proudly. I'm not any different in real life than I am online.
