50 things about our new President Elect.
DO NOT turn this into a political thread.
Now, I think it is pretty cool to be in a nation that has grown from its past transgressions of slavery (1650-1865) and segregation (ended 1968) to elect a President who just happens to be black. The reason Barack is the new President Elect is not because he is black, but because he reached across different lines of race, color and creed.
I think this says a lot about our country and shows that despite our relatively youthfulness (as a country), we can be rather progressive and open to change. Sure, there are going to be things that change that we dont like, but there is going to be a lot that will change for the betterment of our people and its future generations. Many people fear change, because it is painful. They rather not change a thing or at least do it slowly if at all.
The one thing about any nation, is that there is no perfect solution, but our nation, resting on the shoulders of our forefathers and the great document that they penned in 1787, allows us to improve and adapt as required. If we dont like it, we have the opportunity to change it every 4 yrs. I believe that is the the sole reason, why we have flourished and became innovators of change throughout the generations of our developing nation. Sure, many times we end up taking a step back in order to take 2 steps forward, but perfection is in adaptation because the climate never stays the same.
So, here is a list of 50 things that you might not have known about our new President Elect

Couple favorites:
"He carries a tiny Madonna and child statue and a bracelet belonging to a soldier in Iraq for good luck."
He buys American: "He drives a Ford Escape Hybrid, having ditched his gas-guzzling Chrysler 300"
