No, there won't be any inside information anymore on promotions. I know when they did it for the first time for Chief and Senior (E-9 & E-8) last year, only the Commander and the member were notified via vMPF. Knew a lot of folks waiting up until midnight and CACing into the portal to see if they made it. The reason they went to this format was just to combat what you're asking for...inside information, buddies up at AFPC that have "the scoop" and what not.
When I was coming up, that was bread and butter if you knew someone, but all the folks on the outside who didn't have an inside track felt left out. Or, there were instances when wrong information was passed down. Imagine...someone whispers in your ear that your name is on the list, and when the list comes out and you're waiting there for the Commander to grip, grin, and salute, well....you find out there's someone else on the list with your name, but it isn't you. Sucks. Happened to me.
39 days to retirement for me after 21 years and 3 months of service (who's counting?) to the greatest military in the world, and the best Air Force to boot. Really, it seems like yesterday when SSgt Caramante was showing me her teeth fillings and what her breath smelled like. Who knew she'd go on to become Commandant of MTIS.
Our Air Force is going through some rough times, but I'm confident the young troops will continue to take us to the next level. I wish you all well.
Good luck and congratulations to those who get the good news.

Damn, never expected to see a Senior on the boards. 21 years is a long time to serve, it is going to be hard in todays Air Force to want to stay with so many changes happening. Only 13 1/2 more for me! I guess I will wait until Thursday to find out who made it.

oh man the memories. LOL You see i never had to pace the floor and wait for the list. Finished #2 in OS "A" school when it was still at Damneck, VA Beach, VA. went from E-1 to E-4 =) didnt have to worry about points and exams, etc=) of course it helps if you dont get in a fist fight with your 2nd class and get knocked down to OSSN. LOL.
