18-1 is still the best season ever ... f the Dolphins ... most TD passes in a season, most receiving TD's in a season and most points everscoredin a season ... that's a pretty good year. The bar gets awfully high when all you do is win.

And even the sun shines on a dog's a$$ every now and then. The Giants got lucky ... now they'll be forced to overpay everyone on their team and they won't be back there for another 10 years. I'm pretty confident the Pats will at least be in the AFC Championship again this year. As will the Steelers, IF they can beat the JagsTHIS year.

Sorry bro, I fail to see how you can call it the best season ever when they couldn't even raise the Lombardi over their heads. All those TD passes, recieving TDs and points mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING without winning the big game...sad but true. I don't care how "good" their year was, in the end they are no better than the other 31 losers in the NFL. Call it luck if you want, but the Giants simply outplayed them one snap at a time. But I've met too many Pats fans to be under the illusion that they are able to face reality and admit that their team could possibly be flawed in any way. You know I have nothing but heterosexual love for you J, but you're wrong on this one

I can point out there flaws, their offensive line did get outplayed by the Giants defensive line, which won them the game. That doubled with Brady's high ankle sprain thathe played through he couldn't move much in the pocket to avoid the rush, but you got to hand it to the Giants, they had a great run and deserved it by knocking out Dallas, GB and the Pats in the Bowl, and they even got Favre to hang 'em up. Now there's no way Eli should have won the MVP, but that's a whole different story in it's self.

Everyone seems to forget that the Patshad the lead with 2:00 to play and came that close to 19-0...and to say they got outplayed is wrong when the score was 17-14 and the Giants had to wait until :40 left to take the lead...that's just not fair. But hey, Buss, your sig wouldn't be your sig if you agreed with me...

And for this guy to say I'm on a bandwagon, maybe where you guys live there are bandwagon people that jump to the Pats, and I can understand that would **** you off...but me, I am born and raised in Southern New England, I am a die hard Red Sox fan and devote Pats fan, and even though I hate the NBA I still hope the Celtics to win...in all, I am a true New England sports fan and have always been, and always will be...check my MySpace if you don't believe me, it's covered in New England sports pics, and Buss can back me on this one, he's seen it.

And I'm sorry Buss for jacking your Pitt meet thread on you...but this back and forth banter is fun...back to the BBQ and Buss' new house!!

BTW - The Pats are the best team. Everyone who watches the NFL knows it. Next year, do you think teams will be gunning for the Giants? No way, everyone wants to beat the Pats now... but I'm sure the older Pitt fans know what it's like cause they had the Steel Curtain in the '70's...

Yes, it is true that the Pats had the lead with 2:00 left, but let's not forget that the Giants had it a minute before that. It was a battle royale for sure. Also, let's not forget how many times New England won Super Bowls in the final seconds thanks to Adam Viniateri. You wouldn't take away from the Patriots wins because of WHEN they won, so don't do it to the Giants.

Agreed with your thoughts on MVP though. If they could give a blanket MVP, it would no doubt go to the Giants defense. I think Manning got it because of that miracle escape from the pocket and equally unbelievable catch made that kept the game alive though. This was, without a doubt, the best Super Bowl I have ever seen.

I would never accuse you of being a fairweather fan J. I know your roots and I know your passion for the Pats and Sox. It's the same passion I have for my Penguins and Steelers. I'm only a fairweather fan when it comes to the Pirates, but what can you expect from somebody who's watched their team have 16 consecutive losing season. I jumped on the Sox bandwagon when they came back from 3-0 against the Yanks a few years back in the ALCS. Until that happened, I didn't like any teams, I only hated the Yankees.

And don't worry about jacking the thread, you're like my internet cousin...plus you are reasonable and intelligent and I know it would never get out of control, but I think you pissed a few people off on this thread cause they don't know you like I do. For those people, I can vouch for jfunk, he's a good dude.

BTW - The Giants are the best team. The won the only game that REALLY counted out of the 19

Starting to feel the love, man... [sm=boohoo.gif]...getting all teary eyed...

After all the drama and hate going on in other threads...it's nice to know there are good natured peeps on here also. Buss, you were the first dude I met on here in January, and we have stayed "internet cousins" since. I also value your opinions and intelligent non-sense, all we need now is a drunken night together to seal it up...lol. Plus, you have a sweet bike.

Sorry I can't make it down for the Gettysburg meet, I tried to get some boys to drive down with me but I only get so many days off from my consulting job and I decided to use my summer days off on a July 4th trip to Block Island instead...

PS - The Pats are still the best team. lol. Living where I live, you can imagine CT is a battleground for Boston vs NY sports teams. The fact that the Giants had to win it stung a bit more, because everyone I work with are Giants fans and they still pour salt on it...so you can imagine how rough that loss was for us Pat fans...oh well, at least we have the Red Sox and we are not in last place in the AL East...lol.

And I have Steve Grogan rookie cards and an autographed picture of Drew Bledsoe onthe wall of my house... I was glad when Andre Tippet made the Hall of Fame and I remember when Irving Fryar was NASTY!!! If they only didn't run into the '85 Bears that year, things would have been different!! HAHAHA!!!
