How we doin? Originally from New York, but now located in Arizona...
Got my license about 2 months ago... Borrowed my friends 2005 ninja 650r for a week and quite honestly got bored of it...
Looking at 1000rr's as we speak... Found a couple interesting deals but would like to know whether or not they are good... Where should i post that?
Thanks
-Spencer

Welcome to CBRF Spencer!
Congrats on getting your license. You've got a good friend that would let you borrow a bike. :-)
As a new rider, you do NOT need a 1000, nor do you have the ability to handle that size bike w/a high degree of safety & authority. I certainly would not recommend anything larger than a 600 cc inline 4.
IF you do actually purchase a liter bike, by all means be safe.

Welcome to the forum Spencer.
I'm with gotcbr, 1000 is way to much bike for you right now. There is so much more to riding that you have yet to learn, and a 1000 will hinder your ability to do so. 600's are plenty fast and are great riders for the even the most experienced of us. Most guys that I know prefer the 600 as track bikes, as well as on the street. You say you got bored on the 650, but I have my doubts that you rode it to it's potential. Be smart and make the right decision, it may save your life.

Thanks for the replys !
I understand completely where you guys are coming from... Ive had the dilemma for quite a while now whether to get a 600 or 1000... Ive been on craigslist for months and have found nice 600s, and then found NICE 1000s for just a couple hundred dollars more !! I have a friend with a gsxr 750 who says thats plenty power... And an older guy who lectures me that getting a 600 will get old fast... Im realy hung up on it but will continue searching for bikes... Id be happy purchasing a 600 for the right price

Today's 600s are faster and handle better than older bikes. In the past it was all about displacement, but not anymore.
Get a 600rr and learn to ride it well (this will take years...) You wont get bored of it. There is not anywhere on the street that you can use either bikes potential. The 600rr will be more forgiving and more fun to toss into corners.
Good luck with whatever you choose to get.

Damn going from New York to Arizona. Culture shock. Welcome to the site. Yeah I know it is a little late. I'm not on here much. So you were/are thinking about a 600 or 1000. I agree with others about the 1000. I got my 1000rr after being on a 600 for many years. The guy that says the 600 will get old fast is either a retard, a licensed racer with many wins, or a straight line poser. I would probably guess the first or last. 74demon is correct about the 600s. A normal person will never ride a 600rr to its potential. Now what riding experience do you have? You said you got your license a couple months ago but did you ride before then? The state put motorcycle on my license when I got my drivers license. Never took a test or anything but that was many years ago.
