what's next? cbr600!!!
Hey everyone! My name is James and I'm in love with the cbr600 LOL. I'm pretty new to bikes. I purchased a Ninja 250 to start out with and completed my MSF course to recieve my license. Fast forward a few months and I think it's time to upgrade! I came to ask the cbr gurus for some advice! I'm looking into purchasing a mid 90's cbr600 with around 4k to spend. I'm wondering what type of stuff I should look for when going to check out a bike to purchase? What should I avoid? What is the best model I can get for that price? Oh and the best part of all!!! Where can I buy parts! I'm coming from the Subaru community and I must say the mod bug hit me with my car. I couldn't stop. I don't intend to stop until I have a pretty nice bike haha.
I leave you all with a pic of my suby

For 4k you should be able to get an early 2000 model unless you like the look of the 90s bikes. Nice car btw. I managed to pick my bike up for 3800 and it's a 2001 CBR 929. Good luck finding a bike and for the amount you are willing to pay, you should be able to get a very nice used bike.

What years are affordable for me? What's a high mileage for a bike? W was looking at some early 2000 bikes and it seems like I could afford one of those with about 12k miles on it. Does that sound right?
As long as the bike's been cared for mileage doesn't matter too much, 12k is nothin. I'm creepin on 27k on my 2000 929, picked it up for 4k. Had 15k on it when i bought it. This time of year prices are the highest, and it all depends where you live. I'd say you can find a nice bike for 4k though, just make sure its fuel injected.
A guy on this forum has almost 100k on his F4i https://cbrforum.com/showProfile.asp?memid=1977

Fuel injection is a MUST!!! After owning both carb and FI, trust me. Don't go carb. Go to www.kbb.com and check out some bike years and look at the mileage. I think you'll be surprised. The average mileage for a bike is a lot higher than you'd expect. At least that was the case for me.
