Thumbs up Transmission Noise

I am the second owner of 1996 CBR900RR 919 which has travelled only 14,000klm.
A rattle has developed in the transmission at low rpm when the bike is under load.
Does not matter which gear the transmission is in.
The noise disappears when the engine spins over 6,000rpm.
The noise is also evident in neutral when you rev the engine off idle however, if you squeeze the clutch then rev the engine in neutral the noise disappears completely hence the reason I think it is in the transmission.
Any tips would be much appreciated.

Could be clutch plates, have you tried adjustment on the clutch?

Maybe have a look at the Clutch Basket needle bearing first, to see if you have any play there

I’ve never heard of a gearbox letting go on a carbed Fireblade, they’re really strong and over engineered.

I agree with the other posters, my focus would be the clutch assembly.

Hi,
Did you find/resolve the issue to your problem with the noise? I have the same problem with mine from yesterday. Gave it a good go up a long hill with a couple of turns then I started to hear this noise after I slowed down. It does it from 3.5rpm. I didnt risk going higher & drove home on low rpm.
At first I assumed it was the transmission but everything still works fine there. The difference with mine is that even with the clutch pulled at idling & reving the engine, the noise is still there. An update will be helpuful thanks.

Thanks for sharing your feedback .
Going by other feedback it appears that with my bike it is the clutch that is making the noise however, by pulling the clutch lever in you are disengaging the transmission from engine load.
if the noise is still there with the clutch lever pulled in you may have a problem else where.
I would have a mechanic listen to yours asap.

Unfortunelty its a crank engine bearing which is blown. Looking to fix or buy a new engine
Thanks
