Default Should i buy a 954 or 600 for my first bike?

I have founda 2003 CBR 954 forsale with 14,000 miles and the asking price is $4800! I was wondering if this is a fair price for this bike. It seems to be clean and in really good shape. However, this is my first street bike and i was wondering if that was too big of a bike for a beginner. I am 6'3 and am wondering which route i should take!

Thanks,
Matt

Like I say to most people wondering the same thing- if it is your first bike, I would suggest definately getting a 600. I own a 954, and moved from a 600, and I am glad that I learned on the 600 because the 954 is definately a step up. A 954rr has a very nice smooth throttle, and is easily managed, but everybody should learn on a 600.

Def start with a 600...better to learn how to whip thru turns and control the throttle...then after some experience move up to the bigger, much stronger bike with lots more power...the big bikes aren't as forgiving if you make a mistake.

I'm 6'3" and I started on a 2001 F4i and then went to the 600RR...the RR is much more comfortable for tall guys because the seat is set higher in a more race oriented position and get some adjustable rear sets to move the foot pegs where you are most comfortable and you'll be fine.

Welcome!!
