Running through some ideas...
Hows it going guys?
I thought that with all of the ideas running through my head that it wouldnt hurt to go ahead and see what kind of feedback I can get from some others that already know about what I would like to get into.
With that said, I am new to the forum, but I am certainly not new to motorcycles. I have had an m1 for over 3 years, and I have been riding big-bore dirt bikes since I was twelve. I am 21 now, soon to be 22 and I would say that I have a lot of self-control.
What I have been thinking about lately is just going ahead and getting a CBR 954 or if I could find one, a 2007 1000rr black on black and using it for playing around and commuting on. I have about a 13 mile commute and I have done it on a Harley a few times, so it shouldnt be a problem on a sport bike.
But, basically, I'm union, I drive a truck all day, I make a decent amount of money, and I'm looking for a way to make my day to day life a little more interesting for my mind and all that. Maybe save some money everyday in the process.
I dunno, there's my introduction, maybe give your thoughts on what I have said so far. I want to be able to look forward to getting on that bike at the end of the day and wanna take the long way home. I have always had a passion for motorcycles, just trying to get into a new aspect of the sport.

Yep, commuting on a sport bike can be a welcome change. It certainly gets my heart rate up - in a good way. ;-) Def saves on gas vs vehicle.
As for what bike to get...that's strictly your choice. I never recommend a larger cc bike to new riders. However, you sound like you have some experience & understand the dynamic.
Take your time shopping & find the right bike for you. Good luck.

That was pretty good tho, took me a couple of minutes to figure out the humor!
Yeah, not quite sure yet whats going to end up happening, but I know what I would like to have if I could find it, which would be a low-mileage 2007 (body style) black on black 1000rr.
The other thing that I know is that I have had a couple of older buddies that have had 1000rr's and neither of them were too afraid of my possible lack of skill, but the older of the two (which actually had the bike I described) told me to go for it. Although he went over to the Harley side because, and I quote "the thought of something possibly happening and the first thing that hits is your FACE...you know what I mean?"
The other guy is closer to my age and used to be into track riding and he really couldnt give me a go or no go, like he thought that if something happened it would be his fault.
Like I said, if I can find the bike for a reasonable price the way that I describe, then I may go for it, but other possibilities such as the KTM 690 SMC are also a maybe.
For now, I can't find either for sale on my local craigslist (which is really weird, I'm in a well-populated area where these things are usually all over), so I may have to wait until the weather change or something. I dunno.
