Is This the Right Bike?
Iam 18 and going to get a bike in Aug. is a 600 a good one or 900 help me choose. I want a good amount of power and to be able to beat my friends rice cars which one? What is the HP on the bikes
hello and welcome,
i´m just going to say what i think about this. I would not at all recommend a 900cc bike as a first bike, most of them are really powerful and you need expierience to ride one of those or you have to be aware of the power in the bike and ride it safely. I started out on a 600cc, been riding that for 2-3 years, and i can say that was plenty enough for me
i would recommend 600.
happy riding

Hello & Welcome!!
I do not suggest the 900....it's too much power for your first bike and if it's not enough, you can determine that at a later time when you become more experienced. I started on a 250, then moved up to the 600 after about a years' time. I also took a fall on the 6 b/c I got cut off by a car on the highway, 2 weeks after purchasing the bike. Be wise, not a squid. Also make sure you get the appropriate gear.

Go with the 600? But if your new to riding completly......start with a 250. You can always whip up on friends later.
Give yourself time and beat up something used and smaller. Be safe and welcome.

Ummm never rode before and you already want to race your buddys ricers? what do you want on your tomestone? go with a smaller bike until you know how to ride the dam thing,, but I stared on a 600rr.
I use to race dirt bikes bro, I use to race duel-sport across country, there is a big differnets between them, trust us,, we only tell you these things cuss we know, going down on a dirt bike is a lot different then going down on a sport bike, you really are not moving that fast on a dirt bike, unlike how fast you are moving on a sport bike.
No offense, but if you're a new street rider and you're racing cars you are going to end up a greasy red stain on a road somewhere. There is a huge difference between riding on dirt and riding in the streets with all the idiots around. The 600 is EXTREMELY powerful, don't let the engine size fool you. I've been riding for around 8 years now, and I just got my first sport bike in january, a 600 rr. I'm still amazed at how fast the 600 is. And one more piece of advice, the street isn't a race track. If you race on the streets you don't just endanger yourself, you endanger everyone. Sorry if this comes off as harsh, but I hate seeing guys buy bikes and then hurt themselves a few days later because they thought they could handle it. Start small, stay safe.
[sm=nono.gif] baby step's little one, I know at 18 you got all that wisdom of the age's...all 18 of them
