Default Read before welcoming new members

someone got bored and started digging up newbie post from the past... as in a year ago. Before you welcome someone, you might want to read the date of the original post....

Seriously, please don't do that any more. It makes it hard to see who the real newbies are. We all want to welcome all the new members. If we have 30 old posts that people are bringing back to the top, the new people will get lost in the shuffle. I don't want to start locking all newbie posts to keep people from bringing up old posts, but I will if it comes to that.

Perfect example. This is from a new member who joined on 11/26/05. His intro was on page 7. What do you think this makes him think about this site?

ORIGINAL: 3power

Wow . . this was pushed back to page 7. . . lol. I just read the post that someone was pulling all the old posts and responding to them. For a minute there, I thought that all those people had joined after me over the last 2 days . . lol.

sorry... I was just trying to stop the others from welcoming the old post. I posted to a lot of them until I noticed some of the threads were welcome by Amanda and were talking about how new the site is... then I started looking at the dates.

I wasn't refering to you Don. You're fine. I was mainly refering to the members who just go and say "hi" to every post on the newbie area & bring up posts from 2004 saying hello. We know who the ones creating the problems are. Everyone just needs to start paying attention to the post they are replying to.

I feel you Chain & Don...I am one that speaks and welcomes all who are new members and add a little more to those asking questions but I never looked at the dates because I never thought we would have other members pulling old "Newbies" back up. We have to adapt to our ever changing environment. I'll pay attention to the date from now on. Thanks....whoever is doing that trash.[:@][:@][:@]
