Default proud new owner today of 1994 CBR600 f2

Hi everyone, I just bought a red 1994 CBR 600 F2 today and cant wait to hit the open road, I got the bike at a fair price knowing it needs two new tyres and chain/sprocket kit.
possibly CCT also. I'm a newbie to this forum and hope to find some invaluble info on the bike, also to share my experience with working on my cbr .
I was a car mechanic and have a good mechanical knowledge on cars but not as much on bikes, I Aint had a bike for 15yrs while raising a family, i Will be very gratefull to the members for any advice, thanks TB

Welcome TB, take it easy on your first ventures on to wide open roads (or not) the F2 is still a very quick bike, not sure what you last had, but I get rusty not riding over the winter so 15 years will be a big gap.
Of course pictures are mandatory

Thanks for the welcome AI1040 Good Advice, Im Gonna take it easy for a while until i get used to her, last bike i had was a 1985 GPZ 600R (fast bike also for its time)
i used to get the odd scary tank slapper even with a damper fitted on the gpz, only bought this cbr 600f2 yesterday, and i started straight away to fix things on it,Think i might have a rectifier prob, head light dims slightly when i rev up, also noticed acid leak from top of battery i downloaded service manual for that f2 and honda common service manual which should be a big help, i have the rectifier off and im gonna check it with multi meter, other jobs to tackle are,, new tyres, chain and sprokets, and maybe CCT, ,the wife wont see me much for a while

Wow, that's a great looking machine! Some dimming isn't uncommon on the headlight. Checking with a meter to verify voltage is a good idea for the rectifier. With those 2 manuals I don't think there is much you shouldn't be able to do. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks IDoDirt, I'm 59 with a bad back and haven't ridden a bike in 15yrs but amazed how comfortable the ride and seat on the cbr 600 f2 is for a sports bike, this cbr is nearly 30rys old, but these older CBR'S still turn heads, and are really quick, Had Suzuki's and Kawasaki in the past, but hard to beat Honda engineering and reliability, thanks for info on headlight dimming, will let you know how i get on, maybe I'm just looking for problems that might not be there, but better to check out all or any issues before i take to the road

Honda's RR's (regulator rectifiers) on these bikes were notorious for going bad. Poor heat dissipation and they melt the connectors to the stator. Common upgrade was installing a RR from GSX'r's. I did to both of my F3's and I'm pretty sure they're howt-to's on the forum.

Wow, should not be on that tight, someone must have really 'grolleyed' that on their (Doc, have you had that bike in the past LoL)
Do you or someone you know have an electric impact wrench (wheel gun) that should do the trick, short sharp movements should free it off.
