Proud new owner of a 99 CBR F4. Been browsing this forum for months, wanting a bike for years, and finally have it! I'm 22, been wanting a bike since I could drive, but I was a little out of control when I was younger and the rents wouldnt hear of it. Looking back, they were right, I wouldnt be here today if I have a sportbike when I was 16. I come from an extensive dirt background, but have found out in the past week, as you have all said before, dirt and street are two VERY diffrent things. Anyway enough about me, the bike is a 99 with 15k miles, polished frame, swingarm, erion exhaust, etc etc. I bought it off a guy who owned it for one year, cut his thumb off last month and can't ride anymore...his loss is my gain. Previous owner bought the bike new and traded it in at the dealership where he bought it, best part of it is it was always dealer serviced and I have all maintence records. Bike has never been down, and is flawless aside from one ding about half the size of a nickel on the tank. Now, a couple questions...I ordered new tires (Pilot Powers $209 for the set...got shipping free cuz they fugged up my order) the back tire is bad, can see steel belt about to come thru, the front tire however is worn in a strange pattern...almost like every other groove is higher than the next, a buddy of mine described it as "chopped" Can someone tell me what this means and what causes this. Also when i brake hard on the front brake at low speeds, the front end seems to shake a little (like the rotors are going in a car) , pulled the pads out and they are fine, and inspected the rotors and they look fine too. Could it be the chopped tire causing this sensation? Thanks in advance guys. Sorry for the book.

- Nick

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I am taking the MSF course next weekend, and have a Shift leather jacket and gloves on the way. I've been trying to wear my Ralph Lauren leather coat when i ride (I firure its better than a tee shirt) but it's damn hot during the day, oh yeah and no flip flops

The shake is your front tire...tires are important as is tire PRESSURE...check it daily..uneven tire wear can end tires life quickly..after u get new tires it will go away ..

O and we like pics...bike pics

I posted up inthe F4forum but this one seems to be more active, do you F4 owners take your whole fairing off when changing headlight bulb, or just jam your hand in there and work tight? My low beam crapped the bed [sm=smiley19.gif]
