Default possible newbie here should I make this trade?

Hello all. I was trying to figure out where to even start to post a question like this. When I was younger I rode an fzr600 and loved it. I currently own a 92 modded v-max, but would like to go back to my younger days. It's a little hard to throw around my Max. My question is I have been offed a 2003 CBR600RR in trade for my Max. Is this a fair trade. Do you guys think I would be dissappointed in the acceleration between old max and a newer sportbike?

No, I do not. I've rode a vmax before, a guy I worked with has one, not sure of the year. Nice bike and all, but I know my 600RR would take it off the line. I'm not into racing or anything. It's hard to compare for me, because when I'm leaning back on a cruiser, it feels like you're going faster than you are, but on a sport bike, I feel like I can jump off and run beside the bike. Then I notice I'm doing triple digit. Also, the 05-06 RR are the same, as is the 03-04... Can't speak for them, but my 05 has to shift out of 1st at 73 mph. So you do the math and see if that compares to the vmax.

Oh, welcome to the forum.

Thanks doncollinsthat is the kind of info I am looking for. I figured somone here has had to have been on a Max to help me compare. Though my old 600fzr was fun, it was a bit of a dog.

We like to help. Do you know that stats on your max? The 600RR will be close to 100hp and weighs in at just over 400lbs. I've done a lot of weight removal on mine and simple things like a PC III and slip on (not that slip ons help a lot)... but I have mine on to 109hp and I'm sure it's under 400lbs. It's like loosing 10 lbs when you remove the stock exhaust.

Looking at my dyno sheets I am at 125 at the rear wheel @ 8600rpm 79lbs torque @ 6500rpm. I'm not sure if the numbers posted on honda's site are at the crank or at the wheel. The max probably weighs about 550 since I took off the stock exhaust and put the Kerker on. The person that wants to trade has put ona Jardine slip on, so my guess it may weigh a little. Less. Does the PCIII help any?

First of all... welcome to the forum! All I have ever ridden have been sport bikes with the exception of the one time I was in LA and we rented Harleys, mine of which broke down 1/2 way to Palm Springs. Yeah, funny. Cant say enough about my 1kRR.... Love it and wouldnt want any other type of bike. I'll be 95 and still on sport bikes!

Yea, I ride my dad's Harley every once in awhile. I think I could push it faster than it picks up.
