Possible new CBR owner
What's up guys, currently I ride a lil ninja 250 but I grew out of that quick and I'm looking to get either a cbr or an r6. I've been looking at this CBR for awhile on craigslist but i thought he was asking a little too much for it before. Now he's lowered his price to 5k. My question for you guys is, on a 2007, would you consider 33k miles too much? the nada.com value for low retail is 5700.
Here's a link to the post
07 cbr 600 rr
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks

33k is nothing as long as it was maintained well and not abused...
that bike has been down and through a few owners. the current owner hasnt had any problems (he says) but he has only had it for 3 weeks. i think he has other reasons for wanting to part with it, just a feeling.
for $5k, you can do better, a lot better. i'd still stick to a honda though.
and, welcome to the forum!

For some reason I get a bad feeling about that bike. He has had it 3 weeks and wants to sale, then also only things he will trade for are other 600rr. If the bike you have is a good bike why would you wanna trade it to another one? Also the ad said only reason he wanted to sale it was because he couldn't pay to have the tags put on it (but he paid 5,300 cash for the bike).. Tags are not that expensive, and if you can come up with 5300 cash, you could come up with the money to tag it.
Something is up with this bike!

Welcome potential CBR owner! As long as bike never been down, it is okay. But for 5K i really believe you can do better like what demon said.... $5K cash one shot is alot of money & many seller will take a lost to sell....
like this one 2006 CBR 600RR with only 22K:
Honda : CBR Honda : CBR | eBay

Here's a copy of what she sent me in an email. I asked if she knew the last time the valves were adjusted.
"No, I sure don't. I have had it less than a month and I didnt ask the guy that I got it from much. I was so tired of looking for bikes, I just handed him all the money I had for a bike so I could be done looking. It runs and sounds great. Has a Jardine exhaust. I had an older f3 that I just sold last year, I got the valves shimmed at Smithers and it wasn't too pricey.
Felicia"
And now that I'm thinking about it a little more, about a month ago, the same bike was posted with that same first picture. I was assuming it was the same seller. But it disappeared for about a month is now being sold again by the new person. If she's dumb enough to "hand him all the money I had for a bike so I could be done looking" then maybe I could make up some BS and get her down to like 4200 haha

You want a buy & ride bike....
There are many choices out there so choose wisely....I honestly will go for any bile between 15k mile to 22k or so.... Though mileage are not a big deal if these bike are maintained, but you want to be the one that is maintenancing bike....
Mileage, year & never laid down is key factor....i personally go for factory scheme fairing....making sure is close to OEM as possible. So YOU will be the one who is doing the mod. Not buying somebody's mod out bike...

whatever bike you get make sure it needs nothing. I paid a little more for my bike upfront but it was in great shape. CBR's sell for higher than their KBB or NADA value. Take a look at it check the tires, chain sproket, frame, look to see in VIN numbers match title, avoid salvage title bikes if this is something you'll ultimately sell down the road.
remember if the deal smells like a turd...then. There are tons of scamers on CL avoid using Western Union. Bring a witness to watch the deal go down.
