Default Passed CBT Today!

Hey all!

I've just passed my CBT a couple of hours ago, so I'm pretty new to the (UK)bike scene!

To be honest I'm after some advice...after passing my CBT, I was in the shop and spotted a second-hand Honda CBR125R. Now the bike is only 4 months old (56 plate), and only has 61 miles on the clock. It's currently priced at £1995, but I'm struggling to find anything to compare the price with - can't seem to find many 2006 CBR125R's.

I had a quick look around the bike, which looks imaculate, and I'massured it's like new to ride etc (will no doubt test before parting with money!).

Does anyone have any experience with the CBR125R's, and what do you reckon to the price?

Many thanks, and I hope to be sticking around in the future!

Oli

CBT is the Compulsary Basic Training - once passed, you're able to ride upto a 125cc (but restricted to 11KW output)with learner plates, no pillion passenger and not allowed on the motorway.

You can then take a theory and practical test, which allows you to ride a 125cc with an output of no greater than 25KW - after 2 years, you can then ride any size bike.

However, you could do a Direct Access course which costs a lot lot more, but allows you to ride any bike once passed.

Phew, anyway, thanks for the welcome!

PS - Attached is an image of the bike in question.

Yeah, but not too sure about it - after spending the evening searching around on the net, it does get brilliant reviews. Supposedly it maxes out at about 80mph, which doesn't really bother me, but the 0-60 is something like 17 seconds (my Renault Clio car does it in about 11).

May I ask what the difference in speed, reliability etc is in a 2 stroke versus a 4 stroke?

It depends on what you get. My 600RR does 0-60 in <3seconds (around 2.5 seconds). F4i is about 3.2 seconds, and so on. It just all depends

so congrats and welcome to the family but yea i always get confused when reading posts from accross the pound lol so when you say 125cc is that really on a 125cc ? i couldnt imagine riding anything smaller then a 600 cc why do they restrict you to such a small bike ?

I think the restriction is to control the nutters on the road - not saying the US is the same, but give most teenagers a powerful car, let alone a bike, and it's like giving them a loaded gun and a licence to kill.

It's strange really, because once you pass the CBT you can only ride a 125cc, and after 2 years of riding, you can then ride any size bike. However, if you're willing to pay for the Direct Access course (3 days, at approx. £450), you can then ride any size bike straight away.

I'd love to go ahead and do the Direct Access course, but there would be no point as the insurance would be too high for anything over a 125cc - 22 years old, and I've been quoted for £350 for an Aprilia RS125. I always remember getting a quote on my mates 600, and it came up at something like £17,000!

What's with the mirrors... I like the bike but come on, did they even try with the mirrors?

Welcome to the forum.

I agree, I think the mirrors would be the first thing I'd change!

Here's a couple of other pics of another CBR125R (front, back etc), so gives a general idea of what it looks like;

And a review with some more pics;
