Default NOT SO NEW

I didn't know where to make this post,
I just recently got my motorcycle, and was wondering what should be a good first bike to start off with.

I know that having a sport bike (esp with the 600cc's that are now adays wouldn't want to wreck my first bike). I know that the 250cc ninja's are pretty good, but was looking for something older and a bit more cheaper.

Maybe a standard bike. Cheap, and reliable haha. any suggestions for a newbie?

Since you have a bike the question is moot. But if you have a newer 600cc sportbike or more you have to be more careful than you think you should for a long time. The other thing is that starting off on a 600 may teach you bad habits and your skills won't develop like they would if you started with a smaller light bike.

Any smaller less powerful bike is a good place to start, you will learn about traffic and safety without worrying about you expensive fairings or too much power or too much rear brake or too much....

I'd get a small cruiser or dual sport if you already have a sportbike, this way if you can afford it you have two types of bike, a sportbike can be too focused for alot of riding ir it can be hard to carry a lot of stuff on.

ah thanks. yeah, it's kinda hard saving up the money on a college salary :P

got my license, and was just thinking about what type of bike i should get. I know that there are people that start off big, whcih isn't the smartest thing to do on a motorcycle, so decided to take the safer road :P

but any suggestions on models? (i'm pretty new to bikes in general), so any suggestions on what bike is good for beginners.
