Default Newbie in VA! Need advice.....

Hey guys whats up! I'm new to the site. And new to riding. I dont have a bike yet.....havent even taken the training course yet! But will soon. I like the CBR's and was thinking about getting one. What do ya think? Is this a good starter bike? Do ya know of any others I should consider? I figured the 600 would be good for me.....I'm 5'4 and weigh 125. I think my inseam is 27.....i just measured it myself! lol
I have been trying to do some research online about the different models. There are so many tho! And they all pretty much look the same. I'm only looking for a used bike.....97-03 year range. I'm not looking to be stunting it out or drag racing it. Just mainly for riding around with my friends and maybe the occassional messing around (once I'm use to it)! I have a 91 blaster so I can handle some power!

So what are the differences btwn all these.....
CBR 600
F4i
FS SPORT
RR
F2/F3/F4

Not sure which years these models started or stopped, so I don't know the better years either!

Oh and I saw a 400RR....haha. I know its smaller, but do they not sell them in the US?

Thanks!

Each one of these bike sound like good choices but it comes down to in what shape was the bike in when you inspected it and which one will fit you.

Hello & welcome to the boards. First and formost before you start looking into bikes too much, take your MSF class. That will teach you alot. Several of those bikes, you don't have to worry about. They are too much for a beginner. If you want a good starter bike, look into a 600cc F2 or F3. You can pick one of those up in good shape for under $4000 easily.

Once you take your class, shop around and sit on the different bikes. Take someone who is familiar with bikes with you. There is a guide to buying used bikes as a sticky on one of these boards on here. I think in the tech section. Follow the guide and welcome to the addiction.

Not a problem. How long till you take your MSF class. Also remember to set about $500 to $750 aside for gear. You will need at the least a good helmet, a good jacket, gloves, & boots to get started.

Prolly in a couple weeks! Depends on the openings they have.

So is the F2/F3 the lower models than say the F4i or RR???

I just wanna know the differences btwn them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

I've tried to search online to where I can put in all those models and do a comparison chart on them to see the differences! Just like with the honda cars.....CX, DX, EX, LX and Si..........cx and dx are the lower base models with not alot of options and then the ex has the power options etc etc etc!!!

The F2, F3, F4, F4I, and 600RR are all 600CC sportbikes. The F2 was an earlier model 600CC. The F3 was the 96 to 98 model. In 99 to 2000 they had the F4. Then in 2001 they went to the F4I which is a fuel injected 600cc. The 600RR is a race replica sportbike.

Every model year was alittle better & modern then the last model year. They usually upped the horsepower alittle and changed some stuff around to be more competitive. You definatly don't want a newer sportbike as a starter.

I would look for a mid 90's CBR600F2 or CBR600F3. Either will do just great for you.

Hopefully that helps you some. They no longer make the F2, F3 or F4.
