Smile Newbie here

Hello everyone! my name's Joey from Cali, and i have been wanting a bike for so long. I'm currently deployed here in Iraq right now but i plan on getting a CBR600RR when i come back from deployment. This will be my first bike by the way so for a beginner, would you guys recommend a bike like this? Also, what are your thoughts on the bike, in regards to handling, performance and quality? I was thinking about just getting a used one for now, so what year model would be the best? I rode on my brother's '03 model a couple of times and i had fun with it. I don't have that much experience so i plan on taking the rider's course when i get back. Appreciate all the help in advance!

hey there Joey and welcome to the forums!! :-)

The 600RR is a fine machine but very fast and may not be the best bike for an absolute beginner ... a lot here would recommend something smaller to begin with and then move on to the 600, that said, it's not as if you have gone out and bought a 1000RR, the 600RR will be a nice bike and easy enough to ride but you need to watch out for that power especially near the top end ... as for early or later, like many things they improved with age until the later 08/09 bikes now have tons of low and midrange power with real drive from just 5,000 rpm!! Some of the early ones lack low and midrange.

Whatever you decide good luck and keep us all informed!! :-)

Jules

i just got an 01 F4i for my first bike. partially because so many idiots told me i would out grow it quickly and partially because i thought the reviews on the F4i painted a picture of a great all around bike. i deffinitly could have lived with a 250 but i love the heck out of my F4i. the only thing i'll miss about living in Louisiana is the riding season. my enlistment is up in February. no reup for me. Back to the gring in PA. to get back to your question, i would ride just about anything w/ 2 wheels. put me on it and watch me go.

Come home safe!
