Hi all I'm a complete newbie. I've ridden snowmobiles, dirt bikes, and four wheelers. I have just bought my first bike a CBR 929rr. It was stored for the winter by the previous owner. The battery is dead so I'll need one of those. I was wondering if anyone could help me with what needs to be done to bring the bike back online. I am an automotive tech so working on a bike should be easy to figure out with a little guidance. Thanks all.

Greetings & Salutations!!!

Bike should be pretty simple to revive. EFI models don’t degrade as quickly or severely as carby models. So start with battery and verify you’ve got power to everything after key ON/kill-switch=RUN: ECU, injectors, coils, etc.

Welcome to the motorcycle world and congrats on your CBR 929RR! Given your experience as an automotive tech, working on a bike should be straightforward.

To get your bike back on the road, start by replacing the dead battery and ensuring it's fully charged. Change the oil and oil filter, check the coolant level, and replace the brake fluid if it's old. Since it was stored for the winter, drain any old fuel and clean the fuel system, checking the fuel lines for any cracks or leaks. Inspect and clean or replace the air filter as needed.

Next, check the tire pressure and inspect the tires for wear or dry rot, replacing them if necessary. Inspect the brake pads and rotors, making sure the brakes function properly. Clean and lubricate the chain, adjusting the tension if needed. Look over the electrical system for any signs of corrosion or damage in the wiring and connections.

Finally, give the bike a general inspection for any loose bolts or signs of wear. Once everything is checked and sorted, your CBR should be ready to go. If you run into any specific issues or need more detailed help, feel free to ask. Enjoy your new ride!

Ride safe,

Saint Nic
