Hi all, just bought a cbr600f 1997. Nice con, 20000miles. Got it as their obviously a do it all bike and I don't really get out much as I'm enjoying my mtb at the moment. The bike will be used for quick 2 hr blasts when I feel the need. Hopefully as reliable as people say and won't cause me much fuss, it's got more miles on than I am use to but old posts are reassuring about the strength of the engines. Nice to meet you all, hopefully I can be of some use.
Paul

Welcome to the forum Paul.

20k is just barely broken in, and not even all that much for a 17 year old bike. just over 1k a year!

Being that it has carbs, you need to get it out more. If it sits for long periods of time, the old fuel will cause some problems and the battery won't last too long not in service. Protect your carbs and charging system and your issues will be minimal.

Where in the world are you?

Welcome Paul. Yea, make sure to put some stabil or something in the fuel for when you are not using it. Try to make sure you use the fuel that would be even better. The F3 is a great bike. Very reliable so I hope you dont get problems. Doing preventative stuff too could aid in that. Good luck. Ride safe.

Welcome to CBRF, Paul. F3s (what we call them on this side of the pond) are tanks. They're hard to kill. As others have said, make sure your tank is clean/rust free, you have ethanol grade fuel lines, and add some sort of stabilizer for the long periods that it'll be sitting.
