Newbie!
Hey guys name is Mike. Just picked up a 1997 CBR600F3 for a trade with one of my old bmw's I had laying around. This is my first bike and is just going to be my little project toy over the next year or so. Never really been in the bike scene before though I have always wanted one! I'm big into the older BMW's. DD is a 1989 535i 5 speed but I've had several. Looking forward to getting to know you guys and learn about these two wheeled things they call motorcycles! haha.

It's a little rough around the edges but hell, it's my first bike. Gotta start somewhere! Plan on nixing the current headlight setup and replacing with either a single, round headlight or buying fairings and bringing the bike back to stock. Does have the R1 fairing conversion done already though which I like very much. (Not sure if that is a controversial item or not but I like the way it looks so I guess thats all that matters right? ) But other than that it's just going to be going through and doing a full tune up. All the fluids, plugs, maybe pull the carbs and clean etc. The works.

Thanks for the welcomes!
I'm already addicted and I have only had the bike for a few days! haha. It is a project though. Bike currently doesn't have any gauges, basically no fairings, and is choking out a bit up top. Needing to look into all of that.
Would you guys suggest that I just find a set of 97-98 f3 gauges for direct replacement or go ahead and do the F4i swap? I don't mind doing some electrical work and from what I've read the F4i swap isnt too hard so I'm kind of leaning in that direction. Opinions?

Lol. Well that BMW pictured is my DD but I traded one just like it. It was black but not red though. Bought it for $250 with a blown headgasket, put some money in, fixed it and traded it for the bike! haha. Good deal for me because I didn't have much money in the car. A good bit less than I could have bought the bike outright for even though F3's are pretty cheap nowadays.
