Hello Friends,

I am new to the forum and to the riding world. On sunday of this wk i will be purchasing my first bike. It is a 05 Honda CBR600F4i. The owner of it now, laid it down shortly after buying it. He says that it has less than 2000 miles on it but doesnt remember the exact mileage because the speedometer has been broken. It still has the dealer plate on it! Im a little weary of actually being able to do the work and have it come out right. It looks right now hoping he still has the fairing brakets, that i will be replacing the front end. Headlight, fairing, wheel fender, and speedometer. I drove the bike and it rode nicely so Im under the impression im getting a great deal at 1600 for the bike. what do you guys think?

Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Hi & welcome to CBRF and the motorcycling community!
Post some pics when you are able,as most of us will be curious as to the extent of damage thats on the bike.
Especially since the odometer isnt working (?). Kinda of odd, seeing as the odometer is digital.
Post some more of your questions in the F4i forum where the guys can help you out.

Welcome man, ya good reason to be careful with mileage "claims" going with a broken
odometer ....BUT .....price is okay .......if the miles are true !......but being 5 years old
mmmmm I wonder !

I'd have a shop or someone who knows bikes well check it out. The seller shouldn't have a problem with someone looking at it, especially if he's on the up and up.

Regardless welcome to the forum!

Broken odometer = TMU (True Miles Unknown)... No if's and's or but's...

I certainly wouldn't trust that it truly only have 2k miles... Which would make me start to doubt anything the seller says.... but that's just me.

i understand that we dont actually know the mileage. The old speedo was thrown away by the clean up crew after he laid it down. I think the mileage is def under 2000 because the bike still has the dealer plate on it from when he bought it. He didnt even have time to plate it before he laid it down. The title says he drove it off the lot with 2 miles and i dont see how he could have possibly put even close to 2000 miles on it with the thirty days he had to get it plated. he never even went to the bmv becuase he thrashed it without insurance. Im guessing that the bike has around 1500 but we will never truly know but i wonder if i can find someone who can recalculate speedos becasue the one i got for the bike is from an 01 f4i so it could have reall high miels and it will kinda of make the bike look bad.

Meh, even if it has 22,000 miles its not really a big deal.

A wrecked bike of that year, seems like a decent deal. Hard to say without pictures.... hint hint.
