Default New rider from Sydney Australia

Hi guys and girls, my name is Steve and I have finally bitten the bullet and decided to introduce myself although I have been getting onto CBR Forums since I purchased by '87 CBR1000F in February this year. The bike has 76,000 k's and it has been down the road at some time and the guy that I purchased it off in Goulburn, NSW did do some panel repairs and painting. All in all it's a neat bike and so far has only given me one issue and that was with the starter damper. After reading the advice given by other forum members and following the photos, I replaced the damper and the alternator, (which is another story) and so far it is okay. Apart from the rattly cam chain but I can live with that at the moment. I use this bike to commute to and from work so it is kept in good condition and I absolutely enjoy riding it. I am 58 years of age and I have been riding bikes since about the age of 12 ranging from an old Vespa to a '48 BSA Bantam up to Honda 750's, Kawasaki 900 and 1000 as well as several BMW's as well as being an ex HWP cyclist for some 20 odd years riding every brand of bike used by the NSW HWP since 1975 up to 1996 including trail bikes. I am now working in the public transport industry as a Planning Officer so working 5 days a week gives me time off on the weekends to relax and ride when possible. I have a small hobby bike that I am doing up at the moment which is a 1982 Suzuki GSX 400FWS and when finished will be a semi cafe racer. When I get the chance I will post up some photos of the CBR and the GSX when it is finished. Anyway, all the best and keep up the great work as I enjoy reading the comments every night when I can log on. Cheers Steve.

Welcome to the CBR Forum Steve,

You have definitely come to the best forum to keep your CBR 1000F on the road in good condition. And your right in the range of 'mature rider' to boot!

As you've probably read there are a few antipodeans inhabit the forum so good to swell the ranks with a Sydneysider.

I think we now have enough Aussies that we should start thinking about a Summer run to somewhere central.

Cheers, SB

Welcome!

Glad you finally decided to officially join . You've come to the right place to join the 1000f community.

Don't wait until the other bike is finished to post pics. The peeps around here love bike projects, no matter what they are. Good craft is always admired...

Many thanks for the welcomes. Can someone tell me how to insert a photo please? I hit the icon for "Insert image" but it comes up with a URL request. I am what can be called a Middle Ages computer literate, I have graduated from the stone age but I still have a way to go. Cheers Steve.
