Default New rider and new bike

Hi guys, been lurking for the past two weeks or so while I got my bike running. Picked up a 2002 CBR 600 F4i. It only has 22 miles on it, so I'm pretty stoked. Been sitting since it was 3 weeks out of the crate and to my surprise, all it needed was a fuel pump. However, I failed at marking the sender when I pulled it out and had installed it backwards so it was pinching the fuel line so I spent about 30 hours trying to troubleshoot why it wasn't starting after that. Got the bike finished up and put back together last night and took it out for a quick run down the hill and back and it ran like a dream. For some reason I'm throwing two codes on the bike, 9 and 19. IAT sensor and IPG fail, the bike is running flawlessly so I would like to clear the codes if possible and see if they come back, sitting for 10 years does strange things to a motorcycle. Anyways, I'm in the Oceanside, CA area so once I get this beezy licensed and insured I will be down to ride if anyone in the area is headed out. Pics in a little bit, about to clean the garage since I redid the cooling system on a BMW and worked on my bike, it's pretty messy out there.

Welcome to the forum.

22 miles! That's a great find. Make sure to change your fluids and replace your tires. They have lots of tread left on them, but being 11 years old they need to be replaced.

Get your paper work squared away and let's ride!

Yeah, I bought it from a long time friend of mine who after a series of deployments and getting restationed in the Navy just gave up on ever riding it. It hasn't even had a license plate on it before. I am very happy with the bike thus far. With the fuel pump, oil, battery, chain cleaner and lube, coolant, oil filter and all the random other products I got to get it in tip top shape I'm still under a 1000 bucks invested including the bike. I doubt there would ever be a better chance for me to get on a motorcycle for that budget. My gear on the other hand is a completely different story. I bought a brand new helmet and gloves. I need a jacket and have also been looking at the icon field armor things since it is about to get real hot by my house. Does anyone have any experience wearing those? And what did you wear with it? a sweatshirt or did you wear it under a jacket?

Also, is there any thing I need to do to get my account approved? It says I'm waiting on a mod to approve it.

It shouldn't be too long to get approved. The Administrators just want to make sure you aren't a spambot. You just need to get a few posts under your belt - which you are.

Cheers, SB
