Default new rider here.

Hi guys, my name is josh and i just picked up an 02 f4i for $1400. the bike has 25xxx miles salvage title, needs some work but a solid runner. mostly cosmetic damage, maintenance, muffler, speed sensor, and will need a clutch and brakes soon. i think i came out on top, but this is my first street bike. i do all my own work on everything i own so that should save me some $ on repairs. ive had dirtbikes since i was 10 so not new to riding a bike just on the street. ive paid my dues if you know what i mean. its a little bit different, but im having fun learning. look foward to getting to know you guys. peace

duct-tape!

Enjoy the rebuild - looks like a decent starting point!

Congrats on making the choice to come over to the street riding side of life!
Good luck with the rebuild. What are your plans for it?

welcome to CBRF! enjoy riding. not a bad deal for your first bike. my first bike was a salvage title, there's nothing wrong with that

i know the f4i's are pretty solid frame wise so i wasn't really worried about the title when i looked a it. did some work on it yesterday. cleaned the ITBs, went through all the electrical correctors with cleaner (didnt fix the speedo), re routed some wires, adjusted the chain and lubed it, set the idle, unplugged the handing o2 sensor lol.

today i went and transferred title (yay AAA), bought insurance, got my m1 permit, ordered fork seals, ordered a slip on yoshi replica lol Honda Stubby Stainless Steel Tri-Oval Mufflers / Silencers 13" (320mm) not sure if i like how long it is so i might cut it down. did the dyi o2 delete. its going back in once the pipe come. also got a killer deal on some leathers

the dyi o2 got rid of the code 23 (i think thats the num), but the fi light comes on solid over 50 (guessing). is that due to the speed sensor being bad?

plans: catch up on maintenance, replace whats broken, integrated smoked tail, integrated turn mirrors, flush mounts, china repsol fairings, levers, grips, would like to do some kind of hid projector retrofit. halos, leds in the housings. nothing crazy.

Welcome to the CBR Forum Josh,

Great place to start with the 600 and looks like it was a good price.

Cheers, SB
