New Rider
Hey everybody, I just bought an '04 CBR 600RR this past weekend. It's my first bike, so I'm definitely looking forward to riding. Also, I'm from Northern/Central Virginia, so if anybody out there wants to get together and ride, let me know.
Virginia huh? I'm in Virginia Beach, VA on buisness right now, till monday when I fly out. No bike since it's buisness... but the company went for a convertible mustang, so I'm rollin' that for the week.
I'll get it out of the way now, 'cause it always needs to be said, If you haven't, take the MSF course, you'll thank us. Wear your gear, don't be a 'squid', drive safe, Welcome to the site!

Congrats on the new bike, be careful riding with better riders for a while. They can get a noob into trouble by riding faster than you are able. Ride at your own pace, but for a while, you don't even know what that pace is, so just enjoy cruising around.
Have fun.

Man, have fun cruising in that mustang...sounds like life is hard =) but yeah, i took the VDOT approved motorcycle course and did very well. thanks a lot for the riding at my own pace advice, that definitely sounds like very good advice. I'm sure saying I'll do my own thing and then actually doing it when time comes will be hard, but I'll definitely do my best. Thank you both for the advice.
welcome aboard, and def listen to these guys, LRN2GOis absolutely right DONT ride like a squid that could get you or someone else killed, the 600rr is no slug so take your time and DONT try to keep up with guys/gals with experience, find your pace and stay alert. this is what i say to friends and fellow riders " everone else on the road is out to kill you" good luck and be safe, always wear the gear.
Welcome to the riding world. Its addicting ....lol
. What city are you from? When I'm home from college i'm all around NOVA. (Manassas, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Winchester, Dumfries...etc) Watch out for those cold tires .. let them warm up before taking any hard corners. Watch out for cagers up there too, those people don't give a Sh*T about bikes on I66/95.
+1 on the MSF!

Thanks for the advice Rothmans. I'm staying in Falls Church during the week, but I'm actually from a small town near Front Royal (off of I-66) if you're familiar with the area. So I'll be riding anywhere from Northern VA all the way down to Harrisonburg, VA. I've definitely heard plenty of stories about 66/95/495, and I know from experience that people will cut you off in a heartbeat...in a car nonetheless. So the consequences would be that much worse on a bike I'm sure.
Yep I'm actually pretty familiar with the area ... I could make my way around. My buddy had property right off of the shenando river at exit 6. I'll p.m. you when im back in the area.
Ride Safe! and Have FuN!
