Default New from NY

Helllllo everyone and thanks for having me on the site. My name is Derek Jones, living in Rochester NY (for now) going to school at RIT. My bike is a 1996 cbr 600 f3, and its a bit of a sad story. I bought the bike last february for $1700 with fairing damage down in Philly. This past summer I moved into a rough neighborhood, and 3 days after putting the bike on the road it was stolen. Time went by, and the police found my bike; smashed. The whole front end is smashed and its just in awul shape as you can see in the pictures. I've been working with cars for a few years now and my brother and I are going to try and fix her up. It starts up and runs astonishingly, just needs almost an entire new front end. If anybody has any tips I'd be very appreciative, this will be my first work on a bike!

Welcome to CBRF Derek and great intro!! Man, that really sucks about your bike. I'd be out for blood if that happened to mine. I'm glad to hear that you and your brother are going to try to nurse her back to health. Lemonade out of lemons. At least you will get to know your F3 more intimately than you would have otherwise, and this forum (and the F3 Section in particular), is a great resource to help you piece her back together. Don't be shy about posting up any questions you may have.

Good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing the "after" pics!

Welcome to another NYer... sucks about your bike, but if you love it, you should bring it back to its former glory...

thanks for the greetings dudes. I'm excited to start working on the bike, only thing that sucks is it being 2 hours away at my brothers so its quite a trip to go get work done. But regardless my girlfriend and I are taking a road trip at the beginning of march down to Georgia and I'm looking all over craigslist for parts so hopefully I'll be getting started soon!
