Hello CBR Forums I'm Joe from Monroe NY. I recently became the owner of a CBR 600F3 that was involved in an accident. The bike needs lots of TLC but it spoke to me and I couldn't ignore it. This is my second bike. My first was a 02 Kawi Ninja 250. I have 20 years of dirt experience and love every second of riding motorcycles. I stepped out on a long limb trading a working, mechanically sound bike for one that will need at least 1k worth of work but I am ready for the challenge
Here was my 250
Here is my F3
Here is my ultimate goal

I love the old school looks of the F3. I will stick with its squared up style. It's a bike from another era and that's what set it apart from every other bike out there when I was looking to upgrade.
I only got to play with it for 30 mins after I bought it. All lights turn on while connected via jumper cables to my car but it starts out cranking slow and gets even slower followed by clicking from under the seat area. It sounds like it has a dead battery but how can this be when its hooked up to my 2012 elantra with a known good battery??
I also tried running the elantra and the CBR puts a heavy strain on the cars charging system. I can hear the cars idle drop a lot.
I know i have to do a carb clean, pull the tank off and drain bad gas and also pull plugs to hear the bike turn over under a no load situation. The inability to work on it RIGHT NOW is the most frustrating thing.

PS. a common mod for the f3 if you really want to have a good ride is to swap the shock. I used a f4i shock. A bit taller (ok cuz im a tall guy) but it gets rid of that resivour. They are much firmer and much better handling
