Hi everyone,

I recently joined this forum after picking up a 2000 F4. I bought one of these new in 2000 and sold it in 03. It has remained one of my all time favorites and I've owned about 10 bikes since. I couldn't resist picking up another one when I found one on Craigslist super cheap and in fairly good condition. 2 owners and all service records back to the original purchase. Mechanically perfect, cosmetically a little rough from a low speed drop. Took it for a test ride and fell in love all over again haha! I plan on replacing the fairings, getting rid of the ugly factory turn signals, new exhaust, jetting the carbs and maybe making a few other small changes. Anyway, glad to have found this forum. I look forward to getting to know you all!!

Welcome to the forum Taiterator

Lots of good information on here. Glad you like the new wheels and good luck with the improvements.

Are you going to go for OEM fairings or the Chinese replicas?

Hi Hawkwind,

Thanks for the welcome! Anyway, I would like OEM fairings but I'm not excited about OEM prices. OEM fairings would cost more than I payed for the bike haha! I've been looking at my options. I've read just as much good as bad regarding the Chinese Replicas. It seems like there might be a couple of ok options there. I'm open to suggestions at this point.

I think the only options are :-
OEM ..............................very pricey

Used..............................could take a very long time to get all the parts.

Chinese..........................quick, fairly cheap, risky, hit and miss quality wise.
