Default New Member Considering a 1000RR

Hi,

I'm new here and considering adding a 2nd bike to my stable. I currently have a Yamaha FZ1 and I love the bike. I find it great for commuting and everyday riding and capable of handling the twisties.

I am however considering a bike that falls into the sport only arena. I'm looking to get it for hitting the twisties and just some more spirited rides. I've thought about a 600cc but I don't think I'd be happy dropping down in power from my current bike. I am however thinking that perhaps someday I might get a 3rd track only bike that I won’t care about scratching up. But for now I'd like something with a bit more power then my bike but handles the twisties a little better. Plus do I really need an excuse for a sport only bike.

Right now I've been considering the R1, GSXR 1000 or 750, and of course the CBR 1000RR. The reason I'm looking at the CBR is the reported lower and mid range torque, which in my opinion is where it should be. I've also heard it corners like it's on rails. I figure the GSXR is my 2nd choice as it’s said to have the torque all through the power band. I’m curious which is more stable and just better handling though.

Of the three the closest I've come to riding one is an 05 R6, so I'm looking for any help I can get. Also when I'm ready to buy, which won't be for 6months to a year, I'm hoping to find a clean low milage 06 or later and was curious if $5500 to $7000 would be a reasonable price to get what I'm looking for.

Any info would be greatly appreciate and I've found many of the threads here to be very helpful already.

Gonna be hard to find a clean, nice 1KRR for that price but it is possible.

Thanks for the welcome.

"Handgun" I could live with that as it is one of my otherpassions. Would that be the same Voodoo who hangs out at the USN forums?

dont get pissed when the 600*s reel in the 1k or even pass it in the twisties. It takes a hell of a rider to really need or use the power a 1k has in the twisties. And theres not as many as they all seem to think that really can ride that well lol.

I'm not faster on the 1KRR than I was on the 600 but I'm having more fun. The new one is more agile than the '06 600 was. The '08 600 is a different story altogether.
