Hey guys, my name is Rick, I have a 96 900RR with 34k on it that I picked up to use as a track day bike. It runs good but it jumps out of second gear, not sure if I should have the whole tranny rebuilt or just repair what is broken, I'm in the process of replacing the clutch and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a slipper clutch available for this bike, I can't seem to find one on any website. Seeing its going to be used as a trackbike I thought a slipper clutch would be a better idea than a regular one. Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

If you're going to track it - a slipper may not be a bad idea. Look at Yoyodyne for one - or maybe orient express. As far as the tranny issue, it depends on what's causing it to slip. Is it slipping because the cogs are out of spec, or is it because of the shift forks/drum. Read through the manual and forums - and determine what is causing that mishap.

Make sure you post a thread about this in the 900rr section.

Welcome to CBRF... That 900 should make for a nice track bike... There are plenty of track junkies here and they all love to talk track... The 900 section is the spot for more model specific info and there is a section just for the track talk... Enjoy your stay and share all your adventures with us...

Welcome to the CBR Forum Rick,

As the boys above had said, the 900 would be an awesome track day bike. Good luck with the project.

Cheers, SB

If it jumps out of 2nd gear, it's likely worn dogs. There are shift kits that can help the 2nd gear popping out - factory pro makes them. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
CBR900, Fireblade, Honda, EC997a Eddy Current Dynamometer

If that doesn't cure it, you might be splitting the case.
